Our Founder's Story

I founded Goldbridge Tutors with one goal: to provide students with the same life-changing guidance and mentorship that shaped my own educational journey.

Having been offered a full music bursary and scholarship to attend Wellington College in 2011, I studied the IB and was one of the very few students in the world to achieve a maximum of 45 points. Other highlights from my time there include a list of academic prizes like the Gavin Ewart Poetry Prize, the Verrall English Prize, the Music Essay Prize, and the Lady Emma Talbot Special Prize and solo violin performances at The Royal Albert Hall and Cadogan Hall. I went on to earn a place at Oxford University where I read BA Honours in English Language and Literature. After being awarded the Casberd Scholarship for outstanding results in my first-year exams, I graduated in 2017 with a Double First.

What many people don't know about me is that English is not my first language. Before I arrived at Wellington College at the age of 14, I had attended a local state school in Romania where English wasn't high on the list of priorities. Although transitioning to an entirely new culture and academic environment was a daunting and difficult process, I was incredibly lucky to encounter exceptional tutors and mentors who truly cared about me and helped me shape a future that was even better than the one I had imagined for myself. Without their guidance and belief in me, I would have never dreamt of earning a life-changing bursary to move to the UK, or playing on stage at the Royal Albert Hall, or applying to Oxford to study literature in my second language. What they taught me is invaluable - they taught me to have bigger dreams, turn challenges into opportunities, and not to fear difficulty but embrace it.

For a decade, I have been helping students reach their goals, which are often highly ambitious, with many of my students receiving both offers and scholarships from Oxford, Cambridge, and schools such as Eton, Westminster, St Paul's, City of London School, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Highgate, and Channing, amongst many others. But the academic results are not what I am most proud of.  What I love most about being an educator is helping students find joy in learning, and turn daunting exams, deadlines or personal difficulties into challenges they can approach with confidence and enthusiasm rather than dread.

I founded Goldbridge Tutors because I wanted to create a community of like-minded educators who see education as an art and are as passionate as I am about providing the same level of life-changing mentorship and guidance that I was lucky enough to experience. I want our students to feel seen in the way I was seen, challenged in the way I was challenged. There’s no substitute for the individualized attention that one on one education can provide —the kind that shifts your whole perspective, that helps you understand who you are, and more importantly, who you could be. When students feel seen and valued by someone they look up to, they don’t just perform better— they are empowered to see themselves in a new light, as creative thinkers, future leaders and confident explorers, ready to shape their own paths and achieve things they never thought possible.

Our Process

1.

We listen carefully to your needs and goals to understand exactly how we can best help you.

2.

We gather as much information as possible about the students' current academic level, interests and goals so that we can design an individualised, realistic and achievable plan of action.

3.

Based on the initial report, we handcraft a list of the best tutors, mentors or consultants to suit your needs. If for whatever reason you are not happy with our initial selection after the first lesson, you will not be charged and we will offer you a suitable alternative.

4.

Once we find the perfect match for your family, regular tuition begins, following a bespoke, individually tailored scheme of work with clear targets and regular progress tracking.
